Elias was 22 and broke.

He was working two jobs, barely making rent, and had no idea how he was going to pay for his last semester of college.

Then he met Marcus.

Marcus was silent for a long time.

Then he pulled Elias closer and kissed him — slow and deep.

“Good,” he murmured against Elias’s lips. “Because I’m in love with you too. And I’ve been trying not to say it for months.”

Elias closed his eyes and rested his head against Marcus’s chest.

“So what does that make us?” he asked quietly.

Marcus held him tighter.

“Whatever you want it to be,” he said. “Boyfriends. Partners. Anything. As long as you’re mine.”

Elias smiled.

“I’m yours,” he whispered.

Marcus kissed the top of his head.

“Good,” he murmured. “Because I’m never letting you go.”

And for the first time in his life, Elias didn’t feel like he was barely surviving.

He felt taken care of.

Loved.

And completely, overwhelmingly his.
