Elias and Marcus had known each other since they were six.

They had grown up on the same street. Gone to the same schools. Shared birthdays, holidays, and every major life event. Their families were close. Everyone assumed they were like brothers.

What no one knew was that Elias had been in love with Marcus since they were sixteen.

He had never said anything. He told himself it was better to have Marcus as a friend than to risk losing him. Marcus dated girls. Elias dated guys. It had never been an issue.

Until one summer, when they were both 25 and back in their hometown for a wedding, everything changed.

They were staying at Elias’s parents’ house. Marcus was sleeping in the guest room down the hall. One night, after too much wine at the reception, they ended up in Elias’s childhood bedroom, talking like they used to.

“I’ve been thinking about something,” Marcus said quietly.

Elias looked at him.

“What?”

Marcus was staring at the ceiling.

“You. Me. This.” He gestured between them. “I’ve been thinking about it for a long time.”

Elias’s heart started pounding.

“Marcus—”

Marcus finally looked at him.

“I’m in love with you,” he said. “I have been since we were kids. And I’m tired of pretending I’m not.”

Elias stared at him.

For a moment, he couldn’t breathe.

Then he leaned over and kissed him.

It was desperate. Years of longing poured into one kiss. Marcus made a surprised sound that quickly turned into a groan as he grabbed Elias and pulled him closer.

They didn’t make it to a bed.

Marcus pushed Elias down onto the floor and kissed him like he was trying to make up for lost time. Clothes came off. Hands roamed. When Marcus finally pushed inside Elias, it felt like coming home.

Elias moaned, wrapping his legs around Marcus’s waist.

“Fuck— Marcus—”

Marcus buried his face in Elias’s neck.

“I love you,” he whispered. “I’ve always loved you.”

Elias closed his eyes, tears pricking at the corners.

“I love you too,” he whispered back. “So much.”

Marcus fucked him with deep, slow strokes, like he wanted to savor every second. Elias held him close, nails digging into his back, completely overwhelmed by finally having what he had wanted for so long.

When they came — together, shaking and gasping — Marcus gathered Elias into his arms and held him tight.

“I’m never letting you go,” Marcus murmured against Elias’s hair.

Elias smiled, tears slipping down his temples.

“Good,” he whispered. “Because I’m not going anywhere.”

They stayed like that for a long time — tangled together on the floor of Elias’s childhood bedroom, hearts racing, finally exactly where they were supposed to be.

And for the first time in years, Elias didn’t have to pretend.

He was home.
