Elias and Marcus had been best friends since they were twelve.
They had grown up together. Gone to the same schools. Shared apartments in college. Survived breakups, family drama, and career changes together. They knew everything about each other — except one thing.
Elias had been in love with Marcus for years.
He had never said anything. He told himself it was better to have Marcus as a friend than to risk losing him. Marcus was straight, or at least he thought he was. Elias had dated men. Marcus had dated women. It had never been an issue.
Until one night, everything changed.
They were at Elias’s apartment, drinking wine and watching a movie like they had done a hundred times before. Marcus was on the couch. Elias was on the floor between his legs, leaning back against the couch like always.
Halfway through the movie, Marcus spoke.
“I’ve been thinking about something,” he said quietly.
Elias looked up at him.
“What?”
Marcus was staring at the TV, but his jaw was tight.
“You. Me. This.” He gestured between them. “I’ve been thinking about it for a long time.”
Elias’s heart started pounding.
“Marcus—”
Marcus finally looked at him.
“I’m in love with you,” he said. “I have been for years. And I’m tired of pretending I’m not.”
Elias stared at him.
For a moment, he couldn’t breathe.
Then he stood up, climbed into Marcus’s lap, and kissed him.
It was desperate. Years of longing poured into one kiss. Marcus made a surprised sound that quickly turned into a groan as he grabbed Elias’s hips and pulled him closer.
They didn’t make it to the bedroom.
Marcus laid Elias down on the couch and kissed him like he was trying to make up for lost time. Clothes came off. Hands roamed. When Marcus finally pushed inside Elias, it felt like coming home.
Elias moaned, wrapping his legs around Marcus’s waist.
“Fuck— Marcus—”
Marcus buried his face in Elias’s neck.
“I love you,” he whispered. “I’ve always loved you.”
Elias closed his eyes, tears pricking at the corners.
“I love you too,” he whispered back. “So much.”
Marcus fucked him with deep, slow strokes, like he wanted to savor every second. Elias held him close, nails digging into his back, completely overwhelmed by finally having what he had wanted for so long.
When they came — together, shaking and gasping — Marcus gathered Elias into his arms and held him tight.
“I’m never letting you go,” Marcus murmured against Elias’s hair.
Elias smiled, tears slipping down his temples.
“Good,” he whispered. “Because I’m not going anywhere.”
They stayed like that for a long time — tangled together on the couch, hearts racing, finally exactly where they were supposed to be.
And for the first time in years, Elias didn’t have to pretend.
He was home.
